Intentions for the walk: to unsettle time, to feel the impulse of a circumambulating arm, to tape time to the heels of my boots and walk between two faces in Melbourne – to attune to and document an open ideation of temporality.
The walk: yes, impulses; yes, taped boots; overshadowed by a silent countdown, a precarious mode of urgency that precipitated a focus on symbols, words, ropes, buildings, concrete. What came to the fore on this walk was an impulse toward stability, meaning and connection: a gaze that went back in to settle an unsettling mood, an unsettling time.
