The Australia HUB is committed to critical ethnographic research related to children’s agency, multi modal and critical literacy practices, and communitarian civic education. Key to Hub 1 research will be issues related to children and young people’s civic engagement, and public pedagogy. Dr. Hickey will contribute to this hub through his experience with participatory and critical ethnographic research practices in urban space, decoding public pedagogy as embodied practice, and the development of innovative practices of data collection through wearable mobile cameras. Dr. Louise Phillips will extend her work on walking and global contexts to work with arts activists engaged in human rights initiatives in Australia.
