A guerilla street library is placed along a walking and cycle path that weaves under a stretch of the M4 Western Motorway in the suburbs of Western Sydney. The library seeks to foster a sense of community among the residents who live along the motorway corridor. In the oft-forgotten wastespaces darkened and dominated by imposing structures of concrete and steel, the legacies of environmental neglect are seen and felt by human and non-human inhabitants. The local community is invited to share books and create chalk drawings on the pavement, to enliven the space that sits in the shadow of the motorway.
